Fuel Payment Assistance This Season

Help Is Available

help with heating bill new yorkThe past two years have been particularly difficult for a lot of us. If an illness (Covid or other), the loss of a spouse, the loss of a job, or any other financial hardship has left you struggling to pay your energy bills, Economy Oil wants you know that help is available.

New York State’s HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) is a resource available to eligible New Yorkers to help them heat (and cool) their homes. With cooler weather just around the corner, now is a good time to find out if you’re eligible for this assistance.

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is administered by the Department of Social Service. HEAP is a seasonal program that usually begins in the fall of each year and ends in the spring. That’s why now is the time to act.

For most who qualify, their benefits are paid directly to their fuel provider. You can receive one regular HEAP benefit per program year. However, if you find yourself close to running out of fuel or having your utility shut off, you could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits.
