Your Heating Oil Delivery: 3 Ways To Help Us
It takes dedication for our delivery crews to get heating oil to you in the dead of winter – especially when road conditions make it hard to get to get around. Snow and ice can make maneuvering heavy oil hoses and other equipment a challenge – and if a driver loses his footing, he can easily get injured and miss time at work (something no one wants, especially this year).
The X factor, when it comes to reliably delivering heating oil in the Hudson Valley, is you: with just a little help from your family, our crews can return home safely night after night, so they can continue to deliver essential fuel and work to our region.
Preparing For Your Oil Delivery
Here are three things you can do to really help us this heating season:
- Keep a path clear to your oil fill pipe – Please remove snow, ice, and fallen branches that might be blocking the route to your heating oil fill pipe. Try to keep at least an 18-inch-wide path clear.
- Clear your driveway – We’re not allowed to deliver your fuel if it’s not safe to do so (it’s the law); if your driveway is covered with snow or ice, please clear and sand or salt it. Our delivery vehicles need a 9-foot to 10-foot-wide clear path in your driveway to allow enough room to maneuver. It also helps if you mark the borders of your driveway if the snow has covered them.
- Don’t order at the last minute – The fewer no-heat emergencies we have, the better we can serve everyone who needs heat. You can avoid most fuel runouts by placing your order when your fuel levels reach no lower than the one-quarter mark.
